Personally i wonder how well MK 103 HVAP works against actual high tier 3 tanks (T34-85s, IS1s etc), as thats one of the few heavy fighters i feel comfortable playing at 5.0 BR.Īnd to add to what the OP said Yak9Ts work very well vs tanks partly because of their BR (3.7/4.0 BR still sees tanks that can get damaged by 37mm cannon) but i would assume at high tier 3 and tier 4 the tanks are more likely to shrug off most cannon rounds. Standing loaded, the Ilyushin weighed more than 4,700 kg (10,400 lb), 8 making the armoured shell about 15 of the aircraft's gross weight. I would recommend any fighter that can carry a 500kg bomb. TsKB-55 was a two-seat aircraft with an armoured shell weighing 700 kg (1,500 lb), protecting crew, engine, radiators, and the fuel tank. Personally i like strapping bombs to my fighters in Combined Tanks mode, Tier 1 and 2 Dive bombers and purpose built bombers are great but at tier 3 they can become sitting ducks, so in tier 3+ i like fighters as i can take out 1 heavy tank makes me happy and then i concentrate primarily on Dive Bomber/Bombers so my tanks are protected and after that I go for fighters.
OP should have noted if he meant AI tanks like in Aircraft RB or player controlled tanks like in Tanks RB. But at least two men, Rudolf-Heinz Ruffer and Hans-Hermann Steinkamp, claimed to have destroyed 70 or more Soviet tanks flying the type during the next two years.
